The Mount Batur sunrise hike in Bali is equal parts challenging and exhilarating, but here’s what it’s really like hiking to the top of Mount Batur!
Hiking Blogs and Hiking Stories
These are all of our hiking blogs and hiking stories at A Brit and a Broad.
If there’s one outdoor activity we love above all others it’s got to be hiking. To us, there’s nothing better than hitting the hiking trail for a day or two. Heck it, we even love hiking if it’s longer than a week!
On our travels around the world we’ve clocked up thousands of kilometers from hiking (that’s not an embellishment!) Macca’s spent 10 days hiking high in the Himalayas and he’s done parts of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu too, but a few of our favourite hikes together have to been hiking in Honduras, hiking in Nicaragua with QuetzalTrekkers, and most recently to Tofino’s secret airplane crash hike.
If you’re visiting Nuuk in Greenland, the Hike & Dine with Touring Greenland is a must. Not only do you spend the day hiking, you catch your own dinner too!
An abandoned airplane crash site isn’t something you find everywhere, so while we were in Tofino on Vancouver Island, we had to check out the hike to see it.
If you’re looking for some summer fun with breathtaking views and gorgeous weather, then make sure you check out one of these amazing resorts in the Alps.
There aren’t many places where you can hike to the top of an active volcano, but at Volcano Villarrica you can, and it really is one of the best hikes in the world.
If you’re looking for the best place to go hiking near Santiago and Valparaiso then look no further than Parque National la Campana; it’s simply stunning.
Day two of hiking with Queztaltrekkers saw us hiking to the top of Volcan El Hoyo before swimming in the crater lake of Laguna Asososca. Another unreal day.
Day one of hiking with Quetzaltrekkers saw us volcano boarding down Cerro Negro in Nicaragua hitting speeds of nearly 100kph. Just pure adrenaline.
With beautiful beaches and dark dense rainforests, Honduras is great for hiking. Add in a torrential rainstorm though and things can get very interesting.
The day before we had hiked for seven hours to the Seven Rila Lakes. Today, we were hiking to Rila Monastery, one of the oldest in all of Bulgaria.
From where I was standing I had the beauty of Bulgaria before me and I could clearly see all seven lakes of our trek. This truly was travelling at its best.
It is rare for me to write specifically about a hostel, but when you come across a hostel such as the Hikers Den, you feel that everyone has to know about it.
The one thing all the locals told me in Belgrade was “go to Bajina Basta. Go to Tara National Park.” In a country as beautiful as Serbia, you listen to them.
